SUSAN SCHMIDT focuses on international business, advocacy and government relations. She works primarily in Latin America and with Latin American businesses. She also is a partner at the law firm of Manatt Phelps & Phillips, where she works with companies in diverse international areas such as export controls and compliance, trade policy and advocacy, WTO and NAFTA issues, and immigration.

Before joining Manatt, Ms. Schmidt was a member of the U.S. Diplomatic Service. She served in Colombia and Mexico, as well as in Washington where she participated in multilateral and bilateral negotiations, managed IPR issues for Latin America and developed IPR enforcement initiatives. She is involved with various professional and charitable organizations, and currently serves on the Board of Women in International Trade.
